Step by Step: How to Integrate Landing Page Forms With Lion Desk Using Zapier

Image
Here is a step-by-step outline that shows how to integrate a non-supported website with Lion Desk using Zapiers email parser. This will allow you to create a single "ZAP" that will automatically assign new leads to the correct Lion Desk source and auto-pilot even if you have multiple leadpage websites. For this to work, the emails from the separate websites must look the same. i.e., have the same information in the same place in each email from each website. And the email must contain a field that passes the correct "source index" for each of your Lion Desk sources. 1. In Lion Desk, create the source and the auto-pilot that you want for that lead source. This process is well covered in the Lion Desk documentation and will not be covered in this tutorial.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CREATE THE SOURCE AND AUTO-PILOT BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE! Once you have created the source and auto-pilot, write down the souce name and the source index.  You will need this la...

Learning To Make Music

Image
Today I have been cleaning my electronic closet! In other words, deleting old files from my computer hard disk.  I ran across this letter that I had written back in 2009. I don't remember who "Hank" was, but evidently he was having problems playing without seeing the notes on a piece of paper. I thought perhaps the letter might be pertinent to someone who is struggling to overcome their past musical training. ------------------------------ Hank, That is because you were taught backwards when you first began on your instrument. Does a baby learn to read before they learn to speak?  Of course not! Why do we expect musicians to learn to read before they learn to make music? If babies were taught to talk the same way we teach children to play music, then they would not be able to say anything without reading it from a script. How popular is the guitar? One of the reasons it is so popular is that is not taught in school! Most guitar players learn to play by picking up ...

The Mental Disease of Liberalism

Image
This is a chain of emails between Garrett Wilner and myself. Garrett began the chain with an email bearing the subject line, "The Mental Disease of Liberalism". On Sun, Feb 5, 2017 at 8:26 AM Garrett Wilner wrote: Lofty subject line, huh? Hehehe So, one of my hobbies has been "trying to understand people." It always amazes me when I run into folks with cognitive dissonance, watching how they justify their points of view with an alarming paucity of logic, references, or facts. In a moment, below, I will provide a link to a YouTube video that I watched twice. It's a conversation between two people whom I like and admire. I almost always find some gems, things I learn when these two get into conversation. And, I find major, glaring holes in their arguments. It's funny sometimes. I marvel at how a closely held belief can be so closely held! Why would I watch a video (twice, no less) of two Liberals having an honest conversation?? Many reasons! Fi...

Love, Love, Love At Christmas

Image
For several years my band, The Second Line Jazz Band , would play a monthly show at a local venue in Round Rock, Texas. One of our most stalwart fans was Gloria Krause. No one would describe Gloria as a "spring chicken", but her spirit was as fresh as any springtime flower you have ever seen. One evening after the show, Gloria handed me a folded piece of paper with the words to a Christmas poem that she had written. She had titled the poem "Love, Love, Love At Christmas". She asked if I would set the words to music and I agreed that I would do my best. Gloria's poem sat in one of the innumerable paper piles on my desk for several weeks waiting for my attention. Eventually, the poem worked it's way to the top of my "do something about it" pile and I began the process of fitting words and melody into something that might be called a song. At our next show, I handed Gloria a CD recording and a printed copy of the song. The excitement in her eyes w...
