Reached Lakewood, Co. yesterday.

(Feb. 2014 - Trip to see Alise)

Reached Lakewood, Co. yesterday. Drove by Patrick and Lysha's place to be certain that I could find it and then on to Chatsfield State Park.

Chatsfield is a "grasslands" park, very different from the mountain campsite of last night. The campsites are designed for motorhomes and that is mostly what the other visitors are using. The main thing is that there is a very nice bathhouse with showers, toilets, and a laundry center. That makes it a great place to stop and clean up before going to visit the kids. I set up the Casita and then showered and changed to a clean shirt and jeans.

I left Max to hold down the fort and drove into town to see little Alise. She is a pretty baby. Patrick ordered out for salads and we ate dinner there.

Their house is a 60's style split level. The front door open to a set of stairs, one going up and the other going down. They have remodeled the bottom floor with a nice kitchen, family area, and guest room. I will pull the Casita over today and park in their driveway. They offered the guest room, but I like sleeping in my own bed.

I got a few good photos yesterday in the mountains. I was certainly a beautiful spot to camp. I would like to go back there and explore more of the backroads and the little towns. Cripple Creek seemed like it would be a good place to play some music. Very "touristy".

Not so cold this morning. My alarm said 24 degrees out, but it seems warmer. I walked Max without a coat and it was not bad. Of course, it was only a few minutes, longer would have begun to get uncomfortable.

I put the solar panel and battery on the picnic table where it will get full sun. I am not certain that the thing is working, but if it does, that will give me a way to recharge this iPad and my cell phone. I can recharge the phone while driving, but the iPad does not seem to charge well in the car. If the battery for the solar panel works, that would give me a backup power source for the iPad. I will know soon.

Sent from my stupid iPad! my iPad
